On Monday 8th July in Budapest, the new Executive Council of the European and Mediterranean Horseracing Authority was ratified.
Mr Brian Kavanagh, Chief Executive of Horseracing Ireland, has been re-elected as Chairman, together with his three Vice Chairmen:
Mr Behcet Homurlu, member of the council of high stewards" of the ministry of food, agriculture and livestock of Turkey,
Mr Thierry Lohest, deputy chairman of the Belgian Jockey Club and
Mr Omar Skalli, Chief Executive of Société Royale d’Encouragement du Cheval (SOREC), the racing Authority of Morocco.
Mr Paul Bittar, Chief Executive of the British Horseracing Association, has replaced Mr Nic Coward as Britain’s representative. Mr. Hubert Monzat, Chief Executive Officer of France Galop, represents France. Mr Rudiger Schmanns, Director of Racing at the Direktorium für Vollblutzucht und Rennen, represents Germany and Mr Zsolt Hegedus represents the Hungarian Racing Authority.
Newly elected to the Executive Council is Mr Manuel Garcia Orozco, Chairman of the Spanish Racing Authority, Sociedad de Fomento de la Cría Caballar de España.
Mr Bjorn Eklund, former Chief Executive of the Swedish Jockey Club, has stepped down from the Executive Council and becomes Honorary Life President.
The involvement of Dr Paull Khan as Secretary-General has been extended by a further year, by agreement with Weatherbys, for whom he is Director of Racing.
Mr Brian Kavanagh, Chairman of EMHF, commented:
“The responsibilities of the EMHF continue to grow, along with the number of countries it represents, and I am delighted that it will continue to be served by an Executive Council of such high calibre. I am particularly pleased to welcome onto the Council Spain, a country whose dynamic efforts to re-kindle her racing industry have recently been reflected by the upgrading of a number of her races to International Listed status”.
FEDERACIÓN EURO-MEDITERRÁNEA DE CARRERAS DE CABALLOS – NUEVO COMITÉ EJECUTIVO
La federación euro-mediterránea de carreras de caballos acaba de anunciar su nuevo Comité Ejecutivo.
Mr Brian Kavanagh, Director ejecutivo de las carreras de caballos de Irlanda, ha sido reelegido como Presidente, junto con sus tres vice-presidentes:
Mr Behcet Homurlu, miembro del alto comité de comisarios del Ministerio de Alimentación, Agricultura y Ganadería de Turquía, Mr Thierry Lohest, Presidente adjunto del Jockey Club Belga y Mr Omar Skalli, Director ejecutivo de SOREC Real Sociedad de fomento del caballo, Autoridad hípica de Marruecos.
Mr Paul Bittar, Director Ejecutivo de la Asociación Británica de carreras de caballos, ha sido sustituido por Mr Nic Coward como representante británico.
Mr. Hubert Monzat, CEO de France Galop, representa a Francia.
Mr Rudiger Schmanns, Director de carreras de la Dirección de cría y caballos de Alemania, representa a Alemania.
Mr Zsolt Hegedus representante de la Autoridad hípica húgara.
Mr. Manuel Garcia Orozco, recién elegido en el Comité ejecutivo, Presidente de la autoridad hípica española, Sociedad de Fomento de la Cría Caballar de España.
Mr Bjorn Eklund, Ex-director ejecutivo del Jockey Club Sueco sale del Comité Ejecutivo habiendo sido nombrado Presidente Honorario Vitalicio.
La participación del Dr. Paull Khan como Secretario General ha sido confirmada por un año más tras el acuerdo con Weatherbys, del cual es Director de carreras.
Mr Brian Kavanagh, Presidente de la EMHF, puntualizó:
“Las responsabilidades de la EMHF continúan creciendo, junto con el número de países a los que representa y estoy encantado de que sea atendida por un Comité Ejecutivo de tan alto calibre. Me complace especialmente dar la bienvenida al Consejo a España, un país cuyos esfuerzos dinámicos para volver a encender su industria de las carreras recientemente se ha visto reflejado en la mejora de una serie de sus carreras a la condición internacional de Listed ”.
