Gran Premio de Madrid regains Black Type

The Gran Premio de Madrid, run at La Zarzuela, Madrid will be run again this year as an internationally recognised Listed Race, attracting Black Type. The International Grading and Race Planning Advisory Committee of the IFHA, together with the Society of International Thoroughbred Auctioneers, supported the submission by the European Pattern Committee (EPC) to upgrade the race. This follows the adoption, by the EPC, of a policy giving 'smaller' EMHF countries the chance to upgrade a single, flagship race under slightly less strict ratings criteria than normally apply.
